For more than a decade, Mandeep Rekhi has been mastering the ancient art of threading. Initially trained in India—where the hair-removal technique originated thousands of years ago—Rekhi eventually moved across the pond, bringing her skills with her, back in 2003. After being certified as an aesthetician, she opted to strike out on her own, opening a private studio for threading, waxing, and special-event makeup. There, she wields long cotton threads, which she rolls across the skin to remove hair swiftly and accurately. This process helps her create brows as shapely and arched as a the back of an angry cat.
