Personal Connection

Our main goal with our customers is to create quality work that they appreciate. To do this, we make sure that our customers know the ins and outs of the work we plan to complete. As part of our initial inspection of your chimney, we will create a full PDF report with pictures including every aspect of your chimney and fireplace. We will also sit down with you and make sure you know and understand everything we found, the importance of fixing each aspect, and knowledge on maintaining your chimney in the future.

Knowledge

Our lead technician has over 20 years experience as a chimneysweep and mason. He has worked for many of the leading chimney companies in the area, and has spent time running his own business as well. Aside from experience, our technicians actively continue their education in order to remain current on codes and regulations in regards to the safety of your chimney and fireplace.

They broke the screen for my fireplace, after showing up an hour late, then told me I need to buy a gas insert and not use my chimney. The most laughable part is the fireplace is less clean then before they arrived. I’m not sure if I will get my money back but this felt entirely like a scam.

Hi Chris, we are sorry that you found our work “laughable”. I do apologize that we were an hour late on the day of the appointment, though you were quite aware that we squeezed you in to another day as the tech you were scheduled with called out on the day of your appointment. That is on us. I also was not aware that anyone had broken your screen. That is something we would gladly replace, we just have not heard from you other than this poor review. I am not sure how your fireplace/chimney was “less clean” than when we arrived, I don’t even know how that is possible. We do not bring anything into your home that would dirty your fireplace and chimney. The guys swept the ash and creosote from the inside of your chimney, it fell into your fireplace, and they vacuumed it up. If we did not sweep the chimney as we did, even with your chimney being unsafe to burn and you not burning anymore fires, the buildup inside of the chimney would deteriorate your brick further and make your chimney even less safe and require even more extensive repairs. In regards to the tech stating your fireplace is unsafe to use, that is 100% correct. On the report we sent to your email this morning it states each of the fire safety codes that your fireplace is currently in violation of. “The smoke chamber is a crucial part of the fireplace system, and is often the most poorly constructed area of the structure. Most structural fires associated with fireplaces originate in this area. It is imperative that this area be completely sealed and parged smooth. Lack of the parging material may also increase the risk of a structural fire, and the risk of the biproducts of combustion migrating into the home. 2014 NFPA 211 11.2.1.13, 2006 IRC 2111.S” You run this risk of burning down your home if you use your fireplace in the state it is in. You need a liner installed in your chimney in order for it to be safe to use. The tech advised you of this, and said you may want to go with a insert as it is just slightly more expensive and preferred by many customers. We ourselves do not work with gas fireplaces, so the fact that the tech offered this as a suggestion shows that we aren’t just trying to book you for more work. There is work that needs to be done and you can do the work we offer, or go with a gas insert. Or, if you do not wish to do either, we advise for you not to use your fireplace. Again, we are sorry that you believe you had a poor experience with us. I have provided you our lead tech’s personal phone number via email and encourage you to reach out to him to discuss further. Best Regards, Shannon H Next Level Chimneys
