great food..I had the spicy Roma shrimp and the sauce was to die for, also the spice was just enough. My husband had the salmone Pomodoro the salmone mixed with the basil, garlic, and roasted tomatos was delightful. Cute restaurant, small and very clean.

Very local with a varied menu. Everything tastes fresh. Although modestly priced, I consider it one of the best Italian restaurants in San Diego.

Very disappointing this visit, they service and food very bad since my previous visit. This time I increased the size of the pizza. I was expecting to pay the difference and tax on the difference. Instead they charged me the difference and tax on the full purchase most of what I paid when I bought the Groupon. When I got home I realized that. I called them and they finally agreed it shouldn't have been charged and agreed to refund the difference. I had to go back to get it which I did a week later when I was in that area. When I got there I asked them if they put sauce on their deluxe pizzas. They said yes so during the visit for my refund I realized they forgot to put sauce on the pizza I ordered. They offered no apologies for making their pizza without sauce. Also the lasagna is very salty. I would not recommend them, nor would I go back there.

I know my review of Nonno's food will neither make nor break the restaurant; and I wouldn't want it to. But it was the worst food I've had in years. I had eggplant parmesan (or slimy, greasy sludge) covered in sauce that the only identifiable flavor...never mind, there was no identifiable flavor. The only choice of a pasta side with this eggplant was spaghetti, and it reminded me of Chef Boyardee canned spaghetti it was so mushy. My husband said the spaghetti tasted like what he used to get at Monterey Heights Elementary School at lunch (many years ago). The so-called garlic bread had the color and consistency of a cheap hamburger bun grilled with slightly rancid oil (that I doubt was olive oil) with no garlic, no herbs, and no flavor. So if you want a dinner of tasteless mush, yea Nonno's! Now I'll let the hubby describe the dinner of cheese ravioli with a side of meatballs. My ravioli dinner was very similar to the wife's eggplant - way over cooked and way under seasoned. Even the cheese filling of the ravioli was completely bland - like it was nothing but cheap ricotta. I strongly recommend finding a better vendor for your frozen ravioli. And the meatballs, the only thing we had that wasn't mush, had the consistency of a dishwashing sponge. But were every bit as tasteless as the rest of the meal. In conclusion, our family was hoping to find another "go-to" Italian place but sorry so say, Nonno's will not be it.

The prices are reasonable and the ambiance is quaint. The restaurant and from what I saw of the kitchen are clean. The food is delicious! Come hungry they'll take good care of you.
