From Our Editors
Keri Jolley might coax out a smile with a joke, or ask a child to help her think of a special name for her camera, but she never orders anyone to "say cheese." That's because she strives to preserve natural moments rather than performances—a tactic that leads to easy grins and big laughs. She adjusts her cheerful approach to suit the age of each client during her sessions, snapping pictures of newborns asleep on a feathery blanket, toddlers perched in an oversize teacup, and children in both studio and outdoor settings. Her portraits of families, teenagers, and pets are similarly candid, with results ranging from sophisticated prints to collections of images arranged onto storyboards. She even composes new formats for upcoming holidays, such as Valentine's Day cards that kids can exchange as practice for when they propose via snail mail.
