What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
I have taught singing since 1991. I have my bachelor's of fine arts and my master of music in opera. I specialize in damaged voices and have developed a program to teach children singing in two groups: ages 2–6, then 7–12. Younger than 13 years old, I believe that private lessons are ineffective. Give your child a head start in music.
Do you provide any materials? What should your students expect to bring?
Bring yourselves and wear loose, comfortable clothing. If your child is younger than 5, caretakers, please stay for the lesson. For the children younger than 7, I provide percussion, postural, and breathing training aids in the form of cool dragon wings and tails for the kiddos to wear. Learning should be fun!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
With my 5-year-old, I have seen children allowed to hurt their voices by shout-singing and inefficient breathing where you see them raise their shoulders and suck in air. This can hurt young voices badly! I teach pronunciation, breathing, tone, posture, rhythm, basic theory, and pitch matching.
What do you love most about your job?
Seeing my students improve and the happiness that comes from expressing yourself through singing. It has been proven that children who learn music young surpass their peers in school.
