K'ya Bistro Bar is inspired by everything from Mediterranean tapas to San Francisco vibes to its beachside locale in the historical La Casa del Camino hotel. Award-winning chef Craig Connole—a vet of the Four Seasons and the Ritz Carlton—expertly integrates these influences, exemplified in dishes such as a spicy seafood chowder free of gluten and dairy. The beet salad is dressed with feta, white balsamic, and candied walnuts, and the grilled lamb is paired with apple-braised squash. These and the eatery's other small plates are meant to be shared with good friends or a favorite accountant.
And it would seem that it's hard to go wrong with any order at K'ya, at least according to Best of Laguna Beach. "Just close your eyes and point to anything on the menu. Whatever shows up will be some of the best tasting food you've ever had."
The drink list is as nuanced as the food, making room for both Californian wines and balsamic martinis. Patrons can enjoy these before their meals while cozying up to the fireplace in the lobby's lounge.
