If you can, make sure to call ahead of time to make sure all the attractions are available. We got there right at opening, and had driven an hour to get there, so we couldn't call ahead that day (we went anyway, understanding the risk). Unfortunately, the train was not running. They DID get it fixed before we left, so we still got to ride. :) We had a great time with our 4 and 2 year olds.

Fun things to do with children, the restaurant had good selections and good prices. The 10 year old, 3 year old, and 14 month old all had a good time.

Bring a hat and water. Very little shade and no fountains that we found. Eat lunch in the cafe garden. Very peaceful and the staff is so kind.

Went with my 2 Daughters and 4 Grandchildren, we had a great time. Brought lunch and ate at the picnic area and they also had a very nice menu to choose from. The kids loved the merry go round and feeding the animals. Would definitely go back!

From Our Editors

In 1961, Bob Terese and Corinne Owen opened a small pet shop in downtown Chicago. Part of their mission: to employ workers with developmental disabilities so they can lead productive and fulfilling lives. Lambs Farm has since relocated and expanded into a 70-acre campus, which has a variety of residential and vocational programs that continue to help those in need. Nearly 250 individuals take part in the services, including group homes and individual apartments, access to employment opportunities and a number of recreational services, such as camping and hobby clubs. In addition to the expansive Garden & Pet Center, the campus also has a farmyard, a bakery, and assorted shops that sell goods handcrafted by Lambs Farm residents.
