Little Rock Athletic Club Membership Types

Individual (All Access)

An individual membership shall be applicable only to the named individual, whether married or not. An individual member's spouse or children, if any, shall not be entitled to the privileges of this membership, except as guests, and are subject to the guest policies established by the Club. An individual must be 15 years old to have a membership at the LRAC.

Family (All Access)

A family membership is defined as any married couple or any two adults from the same immediate family, i.e., sister/brother, mother/daughter. Children of family members who are under age 19 are entitled to use of the Club in accordance with our child policies. Young adults, ages 1924, may be part of their family's membership for an additional monthly fee. When children reach the age of 25, they must convert their membership to an adult membership. In such cases, the joining fee will be waived if "young adult dues" were being paid for the child for the two months prior to their 25th birthday.

Dependents

Couples, individuals and seniors may add their children (or grandchildren in the case of seniors) to their membership, paying a monthly fee per dependent which varies based on age.

When a dependent reaches the age of 25, he or she must convert his or her membership to an adult membership. In such cases, the joining fee will be waved if "young adult dues" were being paid for the child for the two months prior to the 25th birthday.

Individuals may add children 18 and under to their membership for a fee of $10 per month per dependent.

Young adult dependents ages 19 through 24 may be added to an individual or family membership for a fee of $25 per month per young adult.

Change In Status

Type

Members desiring to convert their individual membership to a family membership must pay the difference in joining fees. The adjusted monthly dues will be charged to the Member accordingly.

Reactivation

Members who cancel their membership and wish to rejoin the Club may do so by paying the lesser of the appropriate joining fee currently in effect or the total of the dues elapsed since the date of the cancellation.

Leave of Absence

A Member may take a leave of absence for up to one year for a medical condition or temporary job transfer requiring an out-of-town move. The Membership Office will require a written statement from a physician or employer to verify the request.

Hold

Any Member may put their membership on hold if they are not using the Club but do not wish to resign their membership. During the hold, a monthly service fee will be charged to maintain the account.

Resignation

A Member may cancel his or her membership by submitting a written request and bringing his or her account balance to zero. A 30-day notice is required.

Important Information

Applicable sales tax will be added to all joining fees and monthly dues.

Monthly dues must be paid by bank draft, Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express.

Members desiring to upgrade their membership type must pay the difference in joining fees in effect at the date of upgrade.

Fitness

Barre

Barre is a unique total body workout that will lift your seat, tone your thighs and tighten your core! This class utilizes the ballet barre, sponge balls, and light dumbbells to perform small isometric movements that create long, lean muscles.

Group Exercise

If there is a group exercise pursuit that has been invented, chances are we have a class for it and, best of all, they are included in your membership.

CrossFit

With constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements, CrossFit is a training philosophy that coaches people of all shapes and sizes to improve their physical well-being and cardiovascular fitness in a hardcore yet accepting and encouraging environment. CrossFit contends that a person is as fit as they are proficient in each of ten general physical skills: cardiovascular/respiratory, endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, agility, balance, coordination, and accuracy. It is, by design, broad, general and inclusive. Its specialty is not specializing.

Yoga

In this class, you will perform sequences of yoga postures and stretches that are linked to the breath. The class promotes relaxation, rejuvenation, flexibility and strength.

Cardio and Weights

To keep you interested and on the equipment (not waiting for it), we've amassed a huge collection of cardio and resistance training equipment. You're sure to find something that inspires you. Specifically, we have two separate 3000 square foot weight floors featuring state-of-the-art Cybex, Free Motion, Hammer Strength, Strive and free weight equipment. In our Cardio Theater, members have access to twelve high definition TVs while working out on treadmills, ellipticals, stair steppers, Arc trainers and stationary bikes. All together, the Club houses 125 pieces of cardio equipment. Chances are you'll never have to wait to work up a sweat. Not sure how to use a particular piece? We have Fitness Staff members available to explain equipment, suggest exercises, demonstrate proper form and provide "spots" free of charge.

Cycling

Group cycling is a cardiovascular workout on a stationary bike set to music. A resistance lever on the bike controls the intensity of the ride so participants can individualize their workouts with guidance from the instructor, of course.

Personal Training

Sometimes what you need to take your fitness to the next level is a little more structure, motivation and encouragement which often takes the form of private and semi-private training. Whether you desire to carve some time off your mile, increase your flexibility or add the strength and dexterity to seamlessly carry a toddler, a briefcase and a café latte, without dropping anything (or anyone), we can construct a program to get you there. Our trainers will keep you engaged and inspired with new workouts, while also expanding your knowledge of fitness, so you can maintain your program in the future.

Chaos Small Group Training

"Chaos" small group training delivers short, high intensity, full-body workouts. The group meets twice a week for 45 minutes and works out on "Big Red," our Life Fitness piece located on the Upper Weight Floor. Chaos workouts are organized in circuits meaning participants will move from station to station with short rest periods in between. All fitness levels are welcome and trainers will be ready with modifications as necessary.

Pilates Personal Training

Train the way Hollywood stars, dancers and sports professionals do it. Pilates is an innovative form of exercise that increases balance, postural awareness and flexibility, strengthens the core and helps you gain muscle tone. We offer small group reformer training and private and semi-private personal training.

Consultations

The Club offers complimentary Fitness Consultations for all members. During the session, a member of our Fitness Staff will review your fitness goals, help you establish an appropriate exercise plan, introduce you to any equipment in which you are interested and design a basic program to get you going.

Nutrition

Sabotaging your goals? By working with registered dietitian, Mary Wells, you can learn to make smarter food choices. This customized service includes a nutrition evaluation, menu planning education and behavior modification.

Court Sports

Basketball

With six goals on our NCAA regulation size court, members play and practice on two full courts "right-sized" for our membership. Weekdays, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, the basketball gym is reserved for adults only full-court play. In the evenings, one court is reserved for "challenge court" play. Children, ages 10 and above, are welcome to shoot in the gym as long as a parent or guardian remains on the premises.

Racquetball

We have three glass-enclosed racquetball courts which you may reserve one day in advance by contacting the Front Desk. There is no fee for reserving a court. We also offer leagues for members of all abilities. Participants play once a week on a regularly scheduled day and time. Leagues normally run for 16 weeks. The league fee is $30 per league.

Volleyball

Volleyball players of all abilities are welcome to join us for co-ed recreational play on Thursdays at 7:15 pm in the Gym. No need to sign up, just show up and play. Children with volleyball experience age 13+ are welcome.

Leagues

Above all else, our tennis leagues are fun. But the smiling and high-fiving you see pre and post match often give way to some pretty intense battles.

On weekdays, league play occurs from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm. On weekends, leagues are organized on Saturdays and some Sundays, depending on the season. League fees average $25-$30 per month for daytime leagues and $30-$35 for evening. These fees include court time, tennis balls and prizes for winners.

2014 Club Championship

Tentative Dates: January 23 - 25, 2015. We understand it's a little odd holding our Club Championship for the previous year in January. For years, we held the event in the fall. Over a decade ago, primarily because of the increased popularity of combo tennis, we moved the tournament to January. Times change, dates change but the one thing that doesn't the players whose names are on the wall have earned their spot on it.

Anyone who plays a sport wants to get better, and tennis players seem to be a particularly determined breed. Fortunately, we accommodate this desire to excel with a range of instruction from beginner to advanced player. Our general approach is teaching less is more - trying to simplify your strokes, improve the consistency of your shots and help you with game strategy. The most important thing is that your lesson is tailored to you. We offer a number of instructors and times to fit your needs. Early morning, daytime and evening sessions are available in hour and half-hour increments. Non-members may take lessons. (A nominal guest fee will be added to the session fee.) Play Tennis Quick (PTQ)

This eight week introductory program is designed for adults new to tennis. Basic stroke technique is introduced as well as scoring, rules, strategy and court etiquette. Fee

The LRAC offers an annual summer tennis camp for children ages 5 - 18. Campers will play three hours of tennis daily. Groups, which are kept small, are separated by age and ability. On court, the students work on fundamentals, do drills, play competitive games, work on fitness and play matches. Special emphasis is placed on sportsmanship and etiquette during this week of fun. All campers receive camp T-shirt.

Swim Academy

Group Swim Lessons

We offer two options for group swim lessons: year-round monthly or two week "Crunch Time" sessions. Weather: Group swim lessons are not cancelled due to inclement weather unless the LRSD has closed schools. Swimmers will participate in an alternative "dry land" workout.

Monthly Sessions

These lessons are a great year round fitness activity for your child; you may start them at any time. We have five different groups depending on your child's age and ability. Swimmers progress until they have reached their goals or have the ability to move to the swim team. Each lesson is 30 minutes and your child will attend twice a week on Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.

Little Rays

Come have fun with your child and meet other parents. You will work with your child in our heated pool and be an important part of the learning process. The goal of this class is to help your child become comfortable in the water through repetition of basic skills. Manta 1, Manta 2, Manta 3

As a Manta, it's time to learn to swim. Your child will be assigned to a group, Manta 1, 2 or 3, based on his/her age and swimming experience. Once enrolled in the program, we will recommend promotion to the next higher group when your child routinely performs certain swimming skills associated with each level. Crunch Time

If there's no time for swimming during the school year, then "Crunch Time" is for you. We'll cram a month's worth of lessons into two weeks, attempting to turn your land rover into a water creature in a hurry. Swim Team

Team Tryouts

Your swimmer will be asked to demonstrate specific skills and stroke technique. He or she must be able to swim the length of the pool and tread water for one minute.

Summer League Team

Summer League is a great entree into the world of competitive swimming and a super way to stay fit over the summer. Community pool teams "compete" at Tuesday night meets in pools around the city. Parents are in charge of visiting and occasionally timing. It's no pressure, all fun for children ages 6 to 14. Practice times and schedules are still being finalized but Coach Eimear will tell you all she knows.

Lifeguard Certification and CPR

American Red Cross training makes learning fun and easy.

Through classroom learning and hands-on practice, you'll learn surveillance skills to help you recognize and prevent injuries, develop rescue skills (in the water and on land), perform first aid and conduct professional rescuer CPR.

Please understand due to the serious nature of this class, there will be no exceptions on either age (you must be 15 years old) or class attendance (none may be missed).

Participants will be required to pass a 300 yard swim test (demonstrating a minimum of 100 yards freestyle and 100 yards breast stroke) and a timed retrieval test.

The Rules

Whirlpool Guidelines

Children are more susceptible to overheating than adults. Some physicians warn against young children being in whirlpools because of their inability to regulate their body temperature. Others suggest children not stay in hot tubs for more than 5 minutes at a time. All agree that toddlers and infants are particularly susceptible to overheating. Children should never go under water or bring toys in the whirlpool.

Locker Room Policy

Children, under the age of 10, must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian in the locker rooms and showers. Children, under the age of 15, must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian in the whirlpools, saunas and steam rooms.

Inclement Weather

The pool will be cleared when thunder is heard or lightening is seen and remain cleared until 20 minutes after the last sound of thunder or sighting of lightning. For your convenience, the lifeguard will post "pool closed" signs and will alert the Front and Tennis Desks. If it is raining and there is no thunder or lightning, swimmers will be allowed to swim at the discretion of the lifeguards.

When A Lifeguard Is On Duty

1 Month to 5 Years

Parents of children in this age group must provide "touch supervision," i.e., maintaining an arm's length distance between you and your child.

6 to 7 Years

Parents must maintain visual supervision from the pool or whirlpool deck.

8 to 14 Years

Children may swim unsupervised but their parent or member guardian must remain on the premises. Children in this age range may be asked to pass a swim test if there is concern about their safety.

You may opt to be billed by the month or annually for your Kids' Club membership. (The annual fee represents a 5% savings 12 months of monthly charges.) The fee for your Kids' Club membership will be applied to the same draft source you have designated for your Club dues. When appropriate, we will pro-rate your first month's charge according to a schedule available in our Business Office. Kids' Club membership is complimentary for all children after the third child.

Day Care Overview

Usage

The Day Care, located on the lower floor of the Club next to the Pro Shop, is available for all children, ages one month through five years, for an hourly fee. Parents must remain on the premises while their child is in the Day Care. The maximum allotted Day Care stay is three hours. Parents or guardians must sign children in and out and leave special care information on file for attendants. Guests of members may use the Day Care on a space available basis, paying the fee set by management.

Food and Supplies

In order to keep all our children happy, we ask that meals not be brought to the Day Care because "happy meals" cause those without to be very unhappy. Snacks are welcome but for the safety of our little members, please don't bring popcorn, grapes, gum, peanuts or peanut butter. All drinks brought into the Day Care area must be in labeled containers with lids. Please furnish all requisite items such as diapers, pacifiers, bottles, extra change of clothes, etc. for your child's use during the duration of his or her stay. Diapers will not be provided by the Club. All supplies should be labeled with your child's name and be brought in a bag with your child's name on it.

Roo Rompers

Roo Rompers provides time for our youngest children to visit the DUC. Age appropriate games are led by our DUC staff Monday through Friday. Children 20 months to 4 years may attend. Classes are offered from 9:00 to 10:00 am and 10:00 to 11:00 am. Roo Rompers registration is handled through the Day Care.

Kidz N' Motion

Kidz N' Motion offers our 3 and 4 year olds time for supervised play in the DUC. Regularly available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and 3:00 to 6:30 pm, we've added Saturday mornings from 8:00 to 11:00 am. One caveat participants must be 100% potty-trained. You don't have to pre-register. Simply sign-up when you show up.

Down Under Center Overview

Usage

Children under the age of five are not permitted in the DUC unless accompanied by a parent or guardian or involved in a Club sponsored program like Roo Rompers and Kidz N' Motion. Once a child turns five, parents may leave children in the DUC and enjoy their time in the Club. Please note: Parents must remain on the premises while their child is in the DUC; the maximum stay is four hours.

Fees

Use of the kids' gym and the exergames is complimentary. If you are not a member of Kids' Club, the charge for playing in the maze is $4 per visit per child.

PNO is available for children ages 3 12.

After dividing the children according to age, our enthusiastic and experienced staff will make sure that everyone has loads of laughs, plays hard, and gets a great workout! All activities are age-appropriate and properly monitored. Socks and shoes are required, as well as a bright happy smile.

60Our state licensed After School Care program for children in pre-K through 6th grade is designed to exercise the mind and body of your child. Our 7200 square foot facility houses a children's basketball gymnasium, game room with Dance Dance Revolution and Nintendo Wii, study room and soft play maze featuring a 27-foot high spiral slide. The daily schedule consists of age appropriate fitness activities, educational classes, community involvement, cooperative games, arts and crafts, homework, monthly field trips, guest speakers and snacks. You can add swim team and/or junior tennis for an additional fee. The LRAC provides van pick-up from Baker, Chenal Elementary, Crystal Hill Elementary, Episcopal Collegiate, Forest Park Elementary, Fulbright Elementary, L.I.S.A. Academy, Little Rock Christian, Pulaski Academy, Roberts Elementary and Williams Magnet. Other schools may be available upon demand. Space is limited, so applications to the program are accepted in the order they are received. Scheduling Notes

Saturday's 5:00 pm parties are only 60 minutes long.

A $50 non-refundable deposit and a Birthday Party Selection Form are required to hold your preferred date and time. A member of our staff will call three to five days in advance of your party to confirm your party selections and final count of guests. You will be charged for the number of confirmed guests. The balance of the party fee is due the day of the party.

Swim parties are only available November May.

Saturday's 9:00 and 11:00 am time slots are not available for swim parties.

Because of limited space, scooters, bicycles, tricycles and power wheels are not allowed.

You are allowed a 30 minute grace period to wrap up your party after which you will be charged a fee of $5 per minute.
