Great family fun

Very friendly team approx 65 horses on the ranch and they match you with your skills whether you are beginner or advanced. All the way through you have a guide who is there to help whatever your problem is (dropped something or anything with the saddle). When weather is great be prepared with sun cream whether you are going on the morning or not. Watching the staff they wear loose long sleeves, none of them are in tank top. You get helmet so no need to worry about what hat you should wear, stay comfortable and take very few things with you, less things you drop is the better. If you can mute your camera, it might spook the horses, definitely mute your phone - although not too loud ring tones do not seem to bother the horses...

From Our Editors

The Los Angeles landscape has changed drastically since Sunset Ranch Hollywood first opened its stable doors in 1929. However, its equestrians still continue to lead riding tours through Griffith Park's 5,000 acres, where riders can view the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, and downtown LA. The horseback outings also include rides to the top of Mount Hollywood, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding city. For visitors looking to improve upon their abilities, including actors who have been told they can't just gallop around on a stick horse, the ranch's staff offers private lessons in general horsemanship as well as Western and English riding styles.
