Bland food, slow and poor service, everything tasted like thick gravy. Had not been there in years, will not be back again.

Appetizer was good. Shrimp po boy needs good bread, lots of shrimp, and a spread or sauce. Been to crescent city, and you guys have a lot of potential if you look there, but I'm on your side and you're losing the war. Crawfish etoufee was ok, but again, not much in comparison to the region you represent.

I was really disappointed the quality of food has really gone down hill since the ownership changed - the crawfish po'boy was frozen crawfish and overbreaded - the bread was hard and not flaky and fresh like it was in the past. The gator chili was delicious spicy and meaty but I won't go out for chili. We won't be back.

I lived in New Orleans and I don't eat Cajun or Creole food anywhere else because it is always disappointing. I finally gave in and tried Joe's. The decor needs some work, but the food is excellent! Gumbo-delish! Jambalaya-excellent! CRAWFISH-be still my heart! Bread pudding-to die for! Service was great on this busy night. Can't wait to go back!

We went on Sunday afternoon. The place wasn't crowded, but the food was great. We had a 20 oz draft beer to wash down my gator tail and gator chili and etouffee. My companion had a couple of glasses of wine with her chicken salad. Bill came to a very decent $41, less our $20 Groupon. Service was excellent, attentive without being cloying. I tipped, as I am sure you will, on the full amount.

From Our Editors

Joe's OK Bayou has been serving up authentic Louisiana-style jambalaya and spicy alligator po' boys for nearly two decades. The shrimp-shack inspired restaurant ships in gulf oysters and whips up bayou-style favorites including crawfish etoufee, gumbo, and the aforementioned jambalaya, which is made fresh twice each day at lunch and dinner. For those who bring their heartiest appetites or their biggest pockets, Joe's offers up a boiled crawfish dinner platter that comes piled high with three pounds of the spicy mudbugs, plus garlic bread and a choice of two sides like shrimp creole or red beans. A full bar helps fuel the festive, Mardi-Gras-like atmosphere, though the restaurant remains kid-friendly, with a special menu that includes kid favorites like cheese stix and chicken strips.
