Let’s start with the fact that my wife and I love Mexican food, and as far as we are concerned the Seattle area is a vast wasteland when looking for decent south of the border fare. I was meeting her for dinner near Alderwood mall recently and did not want to hit any of our “usual” hangouts for dinner. I found Taqueria El Rinconsito in Trip Advisor and we figured we’d give it a shot. What a hidden gem! It does not look like much from the outside, especially with the big ‘drive thru’ painted on the side. In fact, I remarked as we drove up that it looked like a run-down old Taco Bell! This is a book you should definitely NOT judge by its cover. Yes, you order at a counter and the décor is not going to take you back to a romantic trip to Cabo. But the food was spectacular and very authentic, including some of the ‘other’ fillings that I am not fond of (tongue, tripe, etc.) My wife had the carnitas taco plate and I had beef enchiladas… YUMM! One word of warning on the salsa bar – when it says “hot” it means HOT! We only discovered later that it appears to be a chain. We’ll have to keep our eyes open for a location closer to home. One last thing to note is that they don’t appear to have an alcohol license so no adult beverages.

I have gone threw the drive thru a few times . THe intercom is OLD and needs to be updated. Hard to hear and understand plus a language barrier. After a struggle to b heard and understood I placed my order. After sitting behind one car in the drive thru for 15 min. I pulled up to the window. My order was wrong. She was very rude. Had me hand the whole order back. Gave her my card so she could refund the charges. By the time she was done and gave me back my order , it was cold. When I checked w my bank she didn't refund my charges. Language barrier aside, she was extremely rude. I have noticed this before at this restaurant. They seem to prefer a clientele that is not Caucasian. But to not refund me correctly is unethical. I called to correct this w the manager, unfortunately, he told me it was their rush hour and I would have to call back. This place is not worth the hassle. With all my heart I believe there is some customer service issues based on one's gender and race.
