I'm new to central Indiana and wouldn't have known about Hunters Honey Farm without the groupon. I definitely plan on taking my grandson when he's a little older. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour and learning about honey bee's.

We had a great time learning about the bees, but it wasn't interactive at all. Because we had traveled so far we ended up paying for the 15-20 min hive tour, it cost over $40. The gift shop was equally expensive. If you can afford a quick trip the people were knowledgeable and sweet.

The honey products made at Hunter's Honey Farm are outstanding (different varieties of honey, sauces made from honey, other bee made products) and only slightly more expensive than what you find at your local grocery store. And being that you are purchasing directly from the farmer and his family you don't feel at all bothered by his pricing. What is disappointing is their Honey Barn Tour - which is the Groupon that I purchased. Although the farmer is very knowledgeable about his bees and takes you on a 30 to 45 minute tour of his barn (basically a storage area with barrels for honey, risers for the bees and other honey farming implements) it is quite a let down.

It was fun and educational! My children were able to bottle their own honey and make their own beeswax candle. We also tried some kinds of honey we had never tried before!

From Our Editors

The Hunter family knows bees. At their family-owned and operated farm, they continue a more than 100-year-old tradition of producing honey and honey-related products. Managing several hundred hives across the state of Indiana, Hunter farms produce honey, beeswax, bee pollen, and propolis, which is used to make everything from beeswax soap and lip balm to honey hot-wing sauce and 32 different flavors of honey sticks.

Guided tours of the honey farm teach groups of all sizes and ages about the work of the honeybee, while forestry tours introduce tourists to the farm’s 65 acres of hardwood. The beehive tour lets guests shadow a beekeeper on the job while "Flight of the Bumblebee" plays on repeat in their heads. The Worker Special tour includes even more hands-on learning, teaching visitors how to roll their own beeswax candle and fill bear-shaped containers with honey.
