Service was horrible, and waiter was dripping sweat. Quite unappetizing.

Seafood something (I forget) Diablo. It's a linguini packed with clam, muscles, and shrimp.

The ambiance was not as it should be for an Italian restaurant. Bright lights, the hall going to the restroom had a cart with cleaning supplies and other items on it and area seemed cluttered. The waiter was very nice and attentive and the food was good, but the atmosphere was bad.

Good service, large portions. Food was salty though.

The shrimp pancetta appetizer was good, with nice, plump shrimp wrapped in bacon. The tomato soup was excellent, but it was lukewarm instead of hot. The coffee is also very weak. The food was ok, but needs to be a little less salty - especially the chicken marsala.

Great addition to McKinney restaurant scene. Would go there for special meal with wife or for relatively inexpensive dinner (pizza) with kids. Great service and good food. Will get liquor license next week.

House dressing on salad was just balsamic vinegar. You would expect something a little more interesting! Maybe they could add some herbs and Parmesan cheese for a little flavor. The grated carrots tasted old, and had a refrigerator flavor. Chicken Parmesan was tender and moist with a nice Italian bread coating that was crisp with a rich red sauce. Dinner bread was delicious but the bruschetta lacked fresh basil and would have been very bland without the balsamic vinegar. The waiter was excellent! He was friendly and courteous.

From Our Editors

With its casual dining atmosphere and rustic Old World cooking, Amato's Trattoria embraces the charm of Italian family-style eating. The chefs adhere to tradition by making pasta as well as meatballs in-house, lending a bit of homespun flavor to the menu’s assortment of classic Italian and Italian-American entrees. These iconic dishes appear alongside Sicilian-style pizzas, which diners can customize by adding as many as 19 different toppings—including everything from garlic and artichoke hearts to sausage and jalapeños. The dessert options manage to span both sides of the Atlantic by featuring traditional cannoli and tiramisu as well as New York-style cheesecake.
