When you walk into The Gang Restaurant and spot the bar, you are almost guaranteed to do a double-take. That's because it's made out of a row of matching washing machines that have been repurposed to hold up a wooden bar top. This eclectic design aspect fits in perfectly with the rest of the decor, a mix of weathered subway tiles adorned with vintage-looking ads and mismatched plastic and upholstered chairs.

The food, served on bamboo trays or giant pieces of slate, is just as eclectic as the decor. Asian fusion dishes, such as Malaysian lamb chops and Thai-style tempura fish, fly out of the open-concept kitchen situated just behind the bar.

These dishes are the brainchildren of owners Bogdan and Jacqueline Niculae, whose travels in Thailand and Hong Kong expanded their culinary passion. They own similar restaurants in Bucharest, Romania.
