Washburn Center for Children, Minneapolis

Washburn Center for Children was founded in 1883, by Cadwallader C. Washburn—also, incidentally, the co-founder of the company that became General Mills. The children's center, however, helps kids lead healthy lives in a different way than Cheerios does. The center focuses on mental healthcare, serving more than 2,800 kids with social, emotional, and behavioral problems, rooted in ailments from ADD to anxiety. Its team of child therapists tackles these issues with multiple types of therapy, including individual therapy and family therapy, which brings parents and siblings on board.
