About Westchester Yoga Arts

Although yoga practice and the business world seem like two entirely separate spheres, Wendy Vigroux has been living at their intersection for years. While working in finance in Europe, she stumbled upon yoga upon returning to America and fell into the practice. Within a year she snatched up her instructors certification, levitated to New York, and started her own yoga studio.

The studio fosters unity with an all-inclusive environment that welcomes practitioners of all abilities to meditate along to gentle beginner classes, or push their boundaries during advanced Vinyasa sessions with aerobic elements. Workshops, such as Sanskrit and Uncovering the Power of Your Voice, take a closer look at particular points of yoga, blending the academic exploration of Sanskrit vowels and the Vedas with focused asanas.

During my first week with WYA I tried to take as many classes as possible to get a feel of the studio and the instructors. I haven't found a class I don't like and there are many more instructors! My favorites so far are Yoga for a Healthy Back with Faith, Open Level and Vinyasa Core with Matt and Dina. I'm looking forward to trying the other classes. My only qualm is that there aren't markers on the floor to indicate where to put mats. So when a class is packed yogis are scattered about and the space isn't maximized.
