Broccolino, Brooklyn

Broccolino isn't named for a dish, but a place. When Italian immigrants first flooded into New York, they didn't speak a word of English, and so instead of "Brooklyn," they dubbed their new home "Broccolino." Today, the restaurant that shares this moniker is a true mix of Italian and American, serving up all the dishes that came from the marriage of the two cultures. The menu includes traditional antipasti, such as toasted bruschetta and meatballs, and a myriad of pasta dishes, seafood, and salads. For brunch, guests can opt for more American classics, including the Italian burger, their house benedict, and spaghetti alla carbonara.
