About Central Park Pedicab Tours

It's no great mystery as to why Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States—its 843 acres burst with New York history, stunning landscapes and architecture, and some of the most beautiful views of Manhattan. But making your way through the Big Apple's green jewel can be daunting.

Central Park Pedicab Tours is there to help make the experience as serene and memorable as the park itself. Sightseeing specialists who work exclusively in Central Park lead one- to three-hour expeditions, from carting guests in comfortable rickshaws during pedicab tours or leading the pack during self-pedal bike tours. And while guests are enjoying the ride, they also learn historical factoids and nature lessons along with movie-location anecdotes. Those who wish to embark on a self-guided tour or simply relish the beauty of the park can rent a bike to glide around at their own pace.

Our tour guide was at our stop on time waiting for us to arrive. We immediately got started on the tour and he was very kind. He had a lot of knowledge about the park and surroundings, he also had laminated handouts for us to read additional information about things he was mentioning. He was so nice and his personality is what the 3 stars are for, otherwise it would be lower. The things I didn’t like do not reflect him, but whoever puts together the tours. Mostly the entire tour was about the movies and shows that were filmed at multiple locations in the park. It was probably 85% of what he told us. There were quite a few opportunities to get out and take photos, but nothing we were interested in, though he pretty much told us to do it even though we hesitated and said he were fine to keep going. There is an Alice and Wonderland statue that my daughter wanted to take a picture in front of, otherwise we had no reason to stop for photos. He also was insisting we “jump” in front of the fountain like the show Friends that was filmed there, even when he said no he get trying to get us to do it. He also kept insisting we get pictures together and he would take the photo, again even thought we said no thanks. He tried to also get a picture of just my husband and I without our 6 yr old and when we took her for the picture he was saying just the two of us. I don’t understand the push for us to do photos that we didn’t want. We could have seen a little more of the park if he didn’t get making us get out for those photos. I am sure that many people love to stare at buildings and bridges and are awed that something was filmed there, but we are not those people. I wish there was a way to tell your tour guide what you’d like to see. We would have chosen things more exciting for our kiddo. He even talked about certain movies (ghostbusters, enchanted, and a few others) which was nice but when she said she hadn’t seen them he said he couldn’t believe it and she needs to see more movies. I think he was doing the best he could with what he is told to do by the company, but I do wish he could have respected our “no thank you” to photos and getting out of the pedicab.
