“I knew dentistry was for me when I was just 8 years old,” Dr. Joseph Zagami muses in his bio. He had just gotten a number of fillings, and the young Zagami thought his dentist’s skills were akin to a magician. Since then, he's lived and breathed dentistry, having served a residency at Lutheran Medical Center and lectured at universities and professional functions. Dr. LuAnne M. Curatola took a different approach—the devoted student decided to double-major in biology and art history, so that when it came time to attend the NYU College of Dentistry, she had a background in science and a sharp attention to detail.
