When faced with a back injury during the 2012 Olympics, Usain Bolt, one of the fastest runners of all time, turned to cryotherapy. During cryotherapy sessions, patients step inside a cryosauna that, unlike a traditional sauna, is filled with cold air. While patients' hands, feet, and sensitive areas are shielded by protective coverings, the rest of their body is met with frigid temperature ranging between -184 and -292 degrees Fahrenheit. This cold aims to refresh the body and trigger healing responses within it. Effects can be a reduction of inflammation and fatigue, a boost of energy, an improved metabolism, and increased collagen production.
