Sadly we had a very BAD experience at Porto Bello last night. They had 2 big parties when we arrived early for our 6 p.m. reservation. The big parties got all the attention and we were ignored. When the head waiter finally came over to take our order 20 minutes after we were seated, we told him how annoyed we were. He offered complimentary wine BUT WE WERE CHARGED FOR OUR 2 DRINKS. NOT GOOD... ALSO NOT GOOD WAS THE FOOD. The soup was bland, pear and pecorino salad boring, veal was a small portion and overcooked; my salmon was just okay. We might have had coffee and dessert if anyone had come over to take our order before we needed to leave 1 1/2 hours later. I left a small tip with a note saying "poor tip for poor service and disappointed that management didn't make good on our complimentary wine". There are too many good restaurants in the West Village to give this one a second chance.
