Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I arrived early and they seated me at a table. My friend ended up being late but the waitress didn't try to rush or press me to order. Atmosphere was great and very busy.

It was easy to make a reservation although it was for Friday night. You must try honey wine. Not a place to go if you are in a rush. My date and I really enjoyed our meal at the Queen of Sheba. Waitresses were kind and nice.

Try the sampler platter it will give you an idea what you can order the next time you go there. The appetizers - Meat samosa's were very good.

The Sambousa was bland and oily. The Avocado salad was good. The Injera (the bread) was decent (at best) and the vegetarian fare was bad (only 2 of the 5 or 6 entrees were likeable). The Baklava was saddening. Service was decent - they were pretty busy all the time and responded politely (most of the time). But I had to ask them for the dessert menu (not the other way around) and had to wait a good 20 minutes for my dessert as they had forgotten about it. The same happened with my check. Service was at the maximum 2 1/2 to 3 stars.

From Our Editors

For chef and owner Philipos Mengistu, cooking is a family business. He spent much of his childhood in the kitchen of his parents’ restaurant in Addis Ababa, learning recipes that had been passed down for generations. Today, Mengistu pays tribute to that tradition with a menu that includes authentic Ethiopian honey wine, coffee from the plant’s country of origin, and his mother’s own fiery berbere sauce. Plenty of tongue-toasting options abound, from the stewed lamb of the yebeg wot to the zilzil tibs—beef marinated in awaze and red wine. Whether guests prefer their dishes spicy or subtle, they can scoop, share, or not share with savory injera, a sourdough flatbread used as a utensil.
