Touted by Gourmet magazine as the "most satisfyingly genuine bistro ever to open in New York City," the Zagat-rated Steak Frites draws on the rich culinary history of France to present a menu of French-style steaks and entrees. The mainstays of the steak menu are the petite filet mignon and Entrecote de Paris rib eye, which are served tender with house-cut fries, and béarnaise or au poivre sauce. The chef prepares a daily special dish, such as a coq au vin or a bouillabaisse, and appetizers such as a charcuterie plate and mussels to prepare palates for dinner. On Saturday and Sunday mornings, the restaurant transforms the restaurant into a brunch house of omelettes, eggs benedict, and fittingly, steak and eggs.
