About Sundays In New York

Judith Farber owes her style of documentary photography, in part, to her first workshop in the 1970s with Ansel Adams and Yousuf Karsh. Instead of lugging around one of the massive 8”x10” view camera, she decided that she'd rather capture candid, behind-the-scenes images of the masters as they taught the class. Farber then began working as a photojournalist, seeing her photos credited in newspapers, magazines, and books all over the world. After traveling the globe for airlines and travel bureaus and cofounding the educational, member-based website Photoworkshop.com, Farber went on to teach composition to Tibetan children in Dharamsala, Chinese school kids, and New Yorkers—via her most recent teaching endeavor, Sundays In New York.

Farber teaches her students to share her love of street photography, showing them how to find the light and moments of energy that elevate snapshots into art.

Learned some quick tips to instantly change the composition of my photos. Loved the hands on instruction in a small class.

This was a delightful and very well-done afternoon of photo shooting and composition instruction. Judith shares her love for street photography and her expertise in an engaging, and very educational way. I'd love to do another one. Soon!

I enjoyed the Sundays in New York composition workshop 1. Judith gave us a lot of good advise on how to compose and frame our pictures. The focus is on street photography (vs. portrait or nature photo). She gives you a good starting point to build upon. Those needing help on how to use their cameras out of auto mode should take the technical class first.
