The food is great and the atmosphere of the restaurant is very eclectic. I would recommend going to York Street Cafe, and I will probably go again. My advice though? Skip the groupon and order what you want at cost. The groupon only saved us $20. Our bill was $90, not close to the$128 groupon suggests as the value, and we tried the more expensive dishes to get the most for our groupon! And with out the groupon, I probably would have skipped both the wine (only house wine is included) and appetizer (because I don't usually order them). Plus, by after dinner coffee--they mean regular brewed coffee, not the yummy espresso beverages listed online at their website. The Opera Cream Cake totally made up for the coffee though. Best I have ever had!

The mussels are a great choice for the appetizer. All homemade desserts = delicious! The catch of the day preparation is delicious with any fish and their specials are usually legit. Amish chicken (with bacon and blue cheese) is always a favorite too!

Though a very nice place, was surprised the crowd was a bit older than advertised. Still had a great time.

Excellent place, very courteous staff including owner Terry! Ambiance apt for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. Outstanding food - filet, fish of the day, appetizer (mussels), salads etc. Sense of Customer service topped it all. Highly recommended!

It was a very charming former pharmacy. Vintage knocknacks everywhere! Loved the coziness and the food was superb! The Red Snapper was the best fish dish that either of us has had in a long time! Would definitely go back! Thank you groupon for introducing us to this wonderful place!

From Our Editors

In the late 1880s, a four-story, Queen Anne-style structure was built on the corner of York and West 8th. The Feth Building, as it was originally known, housed a pharmacy and a bank for decades. Those days are long passed, but while horses no longer pull carriages down streets and the president no longer high fives everyone on their birthday, the historic building still makes its visitors feel better. Just now, the prescriptions are in the form of spanakopita and filet mignon.

The York Street Cafe has occupied the building's first floor since 1997, treating diners to seasonal dishes such as stuffed poblanos with black beans and spinach or Asian-spiced ribs. Its cozy dining room and verdant patio makes an ideal place to share a romantic meal, perhaps one of the aptly named conversation boards. For these, chefs assemble a seasonal selection of items, such as the Brie En Croute: brie baked in a puff pastry and served with with amaretto sauce, toasted almonds, fresh fruit, and a baguette. Visitors should plan on exploring the building before or after the meal, since art and entertainment have taken over the other floors. Musicians often perform and record on the second floor lounge, and artists use the third floor as a gallery space.
