When Jennifer Bismack set out to design her own escape rooms, she wanted to bring the focus to camaraderie and relationship-strengthening. That meant horror-style scenarios or actors dressed up as blood-thirsty zombies were out. Instead, she filled the adventures with missions tailored for friends, families, couples, and co-workers, with plenty of chances to work together to overcome challenges.

That doesn't mean she tossed out the tension altogether. Like traditional escape rooms, groups get 60 minutes to solve puzzles, find clues, and escape. Visitors may walk in Dorothy's ruby slippers and commence a quest to save Toto, who has been held hostage in the Wicked Witch's cave. The other rooms' adventures are a horse of a different color. Groups will find themselves transported back to the 1980s and, in order to go back to the current year, they will have to play with retro toys and the original Nintendo game, or simply Live on a Prayer and Spin Themselves Round (Like a Recond) to the greatest 80s' songs. In the third room, customers have to break into their neighbor's house to salvage their long lost dog, all before he comes back from his tee time.
