Olive and Oak, Oakland

My boyfriend decided to try this place. The service was great, it has a nice welcoming setting. We ordered a wrap and i had a sandwich.. we really enjoyed this place! we'll be going back soon.

I was hopeful that Olive and Oak would be my new go-to falafel/sandwich spot but sadly, it was probably my least favorite falafel & chicken shawarma I've ever had. The falafel's were not freshly made, which the owner proudly shared with us, rather they were warmed up (possibly in a microwave?). And since the the falafel's are so dense, the inside was raw. I would have preferred freshly made/cooked falafel's that are crispy. Also, they don't toast the lavash bread enough which is sad. The chicken shwarma was also a disappointment -the chicken looked like tofu when it came out but we realized it was just sliced chicken meat. Although the owner boosted that it's chicken halal, we would have preferred the chicken to be more flavorful and or grilled. Besides the food, the owners are very nice and welcoming. I wish them the best and hope their food will improve.

This was our first time trying Olive and Oak and we were very pleased. The owners were friendly and the food was very good. :) We will be back!
