Hilltop Lodge & Restaurant, Bolivar

We did not stay, the owner refunded the $12 tax and groupon gave us a $75 credit. Rich the owner was seemingly surprised we didnt want to stay- that in itself is terribly sad and says something about his lack of awarness about guest services and his standards. Or it was a put on. The accomodations were absolutely unacceptable. It was not a redwood cabin as advertised. Sadly the original redwood cabin is abandon/run down - uninhabitable. Overall this probably once very lovely wooded property with historic lodge is uncared for, run down, and does not seem clean. There is junk scattered around the property - with rusty old chairs by the fire pit and a wooden pallet for a porch stoop outside the dirty sliding glass doors of Room #10 in the ugly blue shed-building. There was a damp feel to the bedding and a definate a musty/mildew smell but no dehumidifier. Furniture + decor was outdated, ugly/raggedy, shabby- it didnt seem clean. It was NOT "shabby chic", nor "rustic or charming" at all. The walls were very thin - during the 5 min we spent in the room there was constant barking from the dogs in the room adjacent to us.

Their hospitality was awesome!

Your lodging facilities were a disappointment - nothing like your advertisements. We felt they were unsanitary and unsafe.

Hilltop lodge is a filthy,dirty place.We were looking forward to a relaxing evening but we were very disappointed.
