Social Restaurant + Lounge, Ottawa

The service was not putstanding. The temperature of the restaurant was a bit cool and our lunch was overpriced.

The food was excellent. The service was personal and attentive. We would definitely eat at Social again.

After experiencing a pleasant lunch with a friend at Social earlier in December I suggested to another group of friends that perhaps we would like to have our regular Christmas dinner get-together there. They agreed so we organized our dinner there on Thursday, December 22nd. Our evening started out well but while we were finishing our dessert course and coffee/tea we were approached by staff and asked if we could finish our meal on the " comfy couches " as our table was needed for another group of diners. We all felt that this was an unacceptable practice, particularly for a restaurant the calibre of which Social aspires to be, and it really put a damper on our holiday get-together. All four of us agree that we will not patronage this restaurant again due to this very unclassy action on their part. We will also be sure to spread the word about our disagreeable experience to friends, family and colleagues.

Portions are too small for the price compared to other restaurants in similar price brackets. This was the first time I tried brunch at Social and was underwhelmed. The hollandaise sauce was very runny and the eggs tasted of vinegar. One of the worst eggs Benedict I've ever had. My husband enjoyed his social breakfast, though.
