Black Hammock Restaurant, Oviedo

In Oviedo, Florida, there's a winding road lined with gnarled citrus groves that leads to adventure—specifically The Black Hammock adventure complex. It's a place that introduces visitors to the wild wonders of Florida and Lake Jesup, a 100,000-year-old lake home to more than 9,000 alligators. The Black Hammock lets visitors get close to the country's largest concentration of gators via airboat rides.

Every 30 minutes, the airboats whisk passengers across the 10,000-acre lake. Along the way, passengers can spot everything from bald eagles to wild boars along the outskirts of the lake. The captains are experienced at finding live gators, but if they happen to be unlucky, guests can still visit The Black Hammock's collection of live gators when they get back. If it's a Sunday, they can even watch as the handlers feed the gators hunks of meat and old geometry tests.

The Black Hammock satisfies hungry humans, too, with its tacos, burgers, grilled mahi mahi, and baby back ribs. And just in case visitors haven't gotten enough wildlife, the restaurant features an aquarium with baby gators.
