The instructor was nice but the building is in a bad part of town. Also the instructions for parking were vague and we almost were stranded for the night as our car was locked in a gated area. Plus I wish the class had been more technical instead of us just pouring melted soap into a mould. We spent a lot of time waiting for something to happen. Luckily I had brought a bottle of wine.

A bit of a disappointment. First, the merchant didn't have any wine glasses (this is a sip and soap). Second, you have to wait 30 minutes for the soap to cure in the freezer. Attendees must entertain themselves during that time. Finally, I was hoping to learn more about the soap making process. We had to ask questions instead of the host offering the info.

Don't let the location stop you from going. If you think you're in the wrong building, you are not. I was truly amazed at how they turned this old factory into businesses, loved the architecture. The class....I went with 4 other girls and met two more that night. It was fun, energetic and truly enjoyed myself.

Q&A with La Shonda Tyree, Owner/Lead Instructor

How is your approach different than that of other professionals in your field?
Hands-on classes, and small class sizes.

Do you or your staff have any special certifications or degrees?
I'm a certified advanced soap-maker.

What aspect of your job, or the services you offer, most often surprises people?
That I make and teach soap-making full time. And many people are surprised to learn that there is actually a fragrance for soap called "monkey farts."

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
The building the classes are held in is a reclaimed 19th century mill that has been converted into artist studios. It's located in the Great Falls Historic District of Paterson, home of the Great Falls National Park.
