Hearts B Rockin’ Ranch unfurls across 12 acres, lined with trees and jovial with the rompings of the family dogs, cats, and potbellied pig. There, Baylee—the head instructor and an accomplished rider—rides alongside students to teach Western styles of riding. Lessons cover the basics of horsemanship, giving students saddles-on experience and information on safe interaction with, grooming, tacking, and tying the horse to prevent it from galloping away or coming into the saloon to ask for quarters to play Pac-Man. Beginning and intermediate riders start out with private lessons for one-on-one training, whereas group lessons gather like-minded, experienced equestrians.
