If you had to distill Sal's Pizzeria's philosophy into one word, it would be "freedom." Diners certainly have free rein over their pizzas: the build-your-own, selecting from a long list of toppings that includes pineapple, bacon, and roasted red peppers, as well as more unusual ingredients like arugula, clams, and gorgonzola. For those who like to leave the flavor profiles to the chefs, there are 14 different gourmet pizzas made with pre-approved topping combinations. Favorites include the shrimp scampi pizza, with garlic, white wine, mozzarella, and fresh shrimp, as well as a hot and spicy pizza loaded with chicken, pepperoni, hot peppers, and hot sauce.
Of course, pizza is only the beginning of what the Italian eatery has to offer. Dishes range from classic pastas, like fettuccine with shrimp and artichoke hearts, to upscale entrees like gorgonzola-crusted salmon or veal medallions topped with prosciutto, grilled eggplant, and fresh mozzarella.
