The business sense of Spa East isn't very accommodating. The motto of this establishment seems to be " our way or the highway"; a business should practice some give and take with customers if repeat visits are expected.

I wasn't offered anything to drink. Also, the groupon should be specific to the services that can be provided. The groupon said any 2 services; however, I could only pick from a few so I ended up losing money.

You should ask clients questions about their skin whenever they are receive a facial service and recommend products they have for sale and ask about problem areas they would like you to focus on during a massage service.

Entrance was messy and cluttered, the room itself was nice, and the actual service was ok!'

What a disappointing visit. Non-personalized massage. I was never asked which type of massage I preferred, if I had an area that needed more work than others....... I just completed exams for my masters program and had a lot of stress related tension in my shoulders. After massage, It was still there. This was a serious waste of my time and money. Would not recommend to anyone.

I think that the lady at the reception should dress more appropriately. She looked like she just rolled out of bed.

From Our Editors

Mani-pedis are one of the most requested services at Spa East, according to the Philadelphia Tribune, and for good reason. The spa specializes in Minx nails, which are thin, flexible coverings that add vibrant color while strengthening the nail, helping the look last longer. Add on a hot-stone massage and an exfoliating, homemade foot mask, and you've got the luxe chocolate-and-champagne Minx mani-pedi, which was named as the Best of Philly by Philadelphia Magazine in 2010.

But expertise at Spa East extends far beyond a single service. Owner Samiyyah Staten has dedicated more than 10 years to studying aesthetics and massage, focusing largely on Eastern practices that combine natural and holistic elements. Her staff draws on lifetimes of training and experience to administer treatments from green-tea facials to reflexology, reiki, and shiatsu. Besides channeling ancient Asian traditions, the aestheticians tailor their services to each client's needs, such as dry skin, ingrown hairs, or eyebrows that are unable to convey the emotion of wistful.
