I Squared was a perfectly fine meal, but nothing special. We had cocktails, mango caprese, asparagus, cabbage rolls, and lobster ravioli. Each dish tended to be one-note. Again, not bad, just fine. The service was good, and quite accommodating, so there was that.

The service was wonderful. But all three entrees we ordered were skimping on the the protein in the dish.

We've been back twice since first using the Groupon. It's become one of our favorite restaurants and we've never had a bad meal.

1. The smoked slamon appetizer was served on a WARM plate with totally destroys the delicate flavor of the fish. It was drizzled with what seemed to be a pedestrian oil and vinegar dressing which added nothing to the salmon. It was NOT served with any toast points, or bread or anything to put the salmon on. 2. The calamari appetizer consisted of an anemic portion of the SMALLEST calamari I have ever seen and had NO flavor whatsoever. The accompanying marinara sauce was thin, watery and seemed to come out of a jar. Very disappointing. 3. The lamb shank was tasteless. It almost seemed as if it was simmered too long in water rather than having been braised in aromatic liquid. It was served on some kind of soupy starch that was also bland. 4. The koobideh and barg kebab was merely passable, but served with boring plain boiled basmati rice without even any attempt to make it more appetizing 5. The baklava was obviously not home made and tasted bland and stale. Luckily for you, I do not post negative reviews on yelp! as I do not want to hurt anyone's business. I only post positive reviews when it is deserved. I hope that you try to get your kitchen in order. I typically like persian cuisine a lot, especially when there are nuanced or bold flavors. I will not recommend your establishment at this time.

The food took a long time. The food portions were super small and expensive. There were not enough variety and the water did not even have ice in it. This is by far the worst restaurant experience I ever had.

Food was high quality, flavorful, and fair-priced.

I think the dishes are slightly minimal for the prices charged. There are many restaurants around that charge equal or lesser prices and provide a more diverse plate (I don't care about size but about variety on my plate).

From Our Editors

Known for their successful takeover of Hudson Bay Café, I Squared proprietors Sadri Madjlessi and Tanya Anderson partner with executive chef Nory Madjlessi to combine traditional Iranian and Italian fare into one bold menu. Chef Nory honed his Italian culinary skills under Giovanni LoCoco at LoCoco's and absorbed knowledge of traditional Iranian recipes and cooking techniques from his mother. Rather than attempting traditional fusion fare, Chef Nory aims to stay true to the flavors of both countries, filling I Squared's ever-changing menu with Iranian staples such as fesenjoon—a stew of chicken, walnuts, and saffron served over basmati rice—as well as Italian classics, such as eggplant parmigiana. Using local and sustainable ingredients when possible, Chef Nory preps his signature lamb-stuffed cabbage wraps as patrons peek in the open kitchen from their places at minimalist butcher-block-topped tables. A stainless-steel-topped bar holds a beginner's alchemy kit and the makings of specialty and dessert cocktails along with extensive wine and beer offerings.
