Olde Place, Pittsburgh

We went to Thee Olde Place Inn around 4:30PM on a Saturday evening. We wanted to avoid the evening rush, which really never showed up. Though it was hardly busy, the service was extremely slow. What was worse was that none of the dishes we used during the course of the meal were EVER removed from the table. The busboy kept an eye on the four tables that were occupied in the room we ate in, he cleared off the used dishes from the other tables, but not once did he ever come over to clear the dishes from our table. We finally resorted to stacking them up on a corner of the table to see if he would take the hint. He didn't. I ordered steak with a blue cheese crust, but the cheese was added only just before the steak arrived and instead of a crust, I got clumps of blue cheese sitting on top. I sent it back once I was able to hail down the busboy. (The waitress disappeared somewhere...I'm not sure where!) While the food was OK, the service was awful. I hope it wasn't because we let them know we had the Groupon. We've never had that kind of experience before using it anywhere else. We always tip at least 20% not counting the discount, so it shouldn't have been because of that. It just seemed odd that the other three tables got constant attention from the waitress while we were left clearing off our own plates just to make room for the next course. It left us with the feeling that our business wasn't really appreciated and I doubt we would ever go back again.

Prices too high for the quality of food, waitstaff training and atmosphere.

The Old Place Inn should continue to compete with The Lamont , The Bella Vista , The Georgetown and the others on Grandview Ave. but without the City View budget .

Dinner was delicious, and the staff are very friendly and polite... We also went for lunch, the Ruben was very goodj.
