About Plano Tortilla Factory

Since 1986, the cooks at Plano Tortilla Factory have been churning out hand-crafted tortillas, stocking their shelves with bags of them for customers to take home for Mexican-inspired feasts. But they also welcome guests into their onsite restaurant. Their daytime-only menu opens with authentic hand crafted Mexican comfort food, before expanding into fresh tamales and menudo at lunch, the time when doctors recommend eating. The restaurant is BYOB, both in the dining room and out on a patio complete with a fish pond.

I think you would do much better if you had a liquor license. Enjoyed the food tho. ..owners are nice.

The food was just OK, nothing special. We asked the manager if they had any specials or recommendations he just said, "Everything's good." in a tone that suggested that he just didn't care. The place is huge but empty. The food wasn't anything special. I had one tamale on my plate and thank goodness there was just one because it was nasty! It tasted like a canned tamale and was only about the size of my thumb with hardly any masa around the meat and drowned in sauce. I think if they would update the décor, serve better food and show some enthusiasm about the place as well as serve dinner they may actually have a good thing going and be a profitable place. I would not recommend the tamales, chicken enchiladas, or chicken flautas. I could make WAAAAAYYYYY better food at home. My family is always looking for new "hole in the wall" Mexican food here in Plano, unfortunately I would rather eat at a chain restaurant than here. Sorry, wish I had more positive things to say... oh wait, good salsa, we did really like the different salsas.
