At Raindrop Texas, Teena Johnson doesn't depend on the weather for a relaxing, light rainfall. Instead, she integrates techniques from Tibetan and Native American culture into raindrop therapy, an essential-oil treatment. During the therapy, Teena "drops" nine types of oil onto the client's back from six inches above the skin, filling the air with refreshing scents such as peppermint and cypress. Once absorbed into the skin via massage, the plant-based formulas can help detoxify the body and mobilize the spine.
As a licensed massage therapist, Teena also designs custom treatments by combining Swedish strokes with myofascial release, trigger-point therapy, and other modalities. One of her specialty treatments is TMJ therapy. By gently manipulating the jaw and neck, she uses this therapy to alleviate pain in everyone from teeth-grinders to brass and woodwind musicians to confused people who eat their fork along with the food on it.
