About North Shore Poke - Pleasanton

When Shawn Gole was serving in the Coast Guard, he fell in love—with poke, a traditional Hawaiian dish of fresh fish that's chopped and marinated in a flavorful sauce. So he eventually partnered with his dad and sister, who happens to be a pastry chef, to bring poke to the mainland.

Since opening North Shore Poke Co. in spring of 2012, Gole has acted as head chef, perfecting house marinades like wasabi shoyu that give raw seafood a sweet, spicy, and salty flavor profile. And he does his job well, winning the chef's competition at the I Love Poke Festival in Huntington Beach in 2014 and opening up several more restaurants as far away as New York by 2018.
