World Ice Arena, Flushing

As the largest recreation complex ever built in a city park, Flushing Meadows–Corona Park rec center is hard to miss. The stunning structure’s contemporary design features clean lines, blocks of colored glass, and industrial details, earning it numerous architecture awards.

This building is where World Ice Arena calls home. The arena, along with its NHL regulation ice rink opened in 2009 and has welcomed more than 100,000 visitors since. Aside from public skating sessions, the indoor rink offers private lessons, hockey programs for adults and kids, and figure skating and theater-on-ice classes. And if guests prefer to take in the action, the 440-seat rink hosts annual figure-skating shows and competitions.
