- $82 for a discovery flight experience ($170 value)
The discovery flight experience starts with a ground lesson that focuses on the airplane and all of its functions. Afterwards, participants step into a state-of-the-art Redbird flight simulator, which replicates the cockpit’s controls, instruments, and panoramic visuals. Flight instructors explain the start-up, taxi, and takeoff process before flying in the plane where the student is at the controls. Pilots usually fly south to enjoy the views of Lake Mathews, then head toward Lake Elsinore and Canyon Lake. At the end of the flight, the instructor takes over to ensure a smooth landing back at Riverside Airport. Flight instructors will answer any lingering questions post-flight and log the flight for the student so it will count towards certification, should they decide to pursue it.
Riverside Flight Academy
Based at the Riverside Municipal Airport, the instructors at Riverside Flight Academy produce nearly every kind of civilian aviator. The academy is able to quickly determine whether recreational or commercial pilot hopefuls have what it takes to fly using simulators and training aircraft. Student aviators can start into one of several career programs for commercial and airline transport pilots.
