Rock of Ages Hair Salon, Roanoke

Made an appointment for a certain time. Only really wanted a hair cut my Groupon came with conditioning, told the stylist I only wanted haircut but since another client came in she put me under the dryer anyway and I was there for an hour and forty five minutes. All for a guys haircut.

Excellent service and great energy. We have gone back several times. The haircuts were fabulous!

What should have been a 30 minute wash and cut, I was there for almost 2 hours. When I arrived she had me wait 20 minutes while finishing up with another customer. While I was waiting for the deep conditioner to set in my hair, she took a walk-in customer. I had to wait another 30 minutes with wet hair before she was finished with him and could work on my hair. The other employ told me that because I was a Groupon customer, I was basically not as important as other customers since they don't make as much profit from Groupon customers. After she cut my hair, she asked me if I wanted her to dry it. After being there for 2 hours for 20 minutes of actual work, I did not want to be there longer than I already had been. Worst hair cut experience I've ever had.

My appointment was at 4:30, at which time the stylist, Ashley informed me that they were running behind and I would have to wait 20-30 minutes. I said it was fine, assuming all the stylists would be busy. Ashley then proceeded to comb her hair, make coffee, sit outside and smoke, and talk on the phone to her friend about attractive guys walking by the salon. After I had been waiting for 30 minutes, a random guy walked in and Ashley immediately took him back to give him a haircut. When she finished with him, she left the salon and did not acknowledge me or the fact that I had been waiting for 45 minutes at that point. Finally, Kate (who was busy with another client the entire time) came and saved the day. I had been waiting an hour by the time I finally got in the chair, thanks to Ashley. And the one hour I was planning to spend on getting my hair cut turned into three. But Kate was fantastic - friendly, funny, and very apologetic about Ashley's behavior. She also did a great job with the haircut itself. So go see Kate! Do not see Ashley!
