Very cool place to visit. Loved the old cars from the movies. My teenage kids loved it too!

I did unfortunately have a negative experience when visiting Volo using this groupon: 1) Upon arrival we were notified that the trolley was not operating due to it getting stuck in the mud. (COMPLETELY understandable) However, I was not offered any type of voucher to redeem for our trolley rides for a future visit. I thought this quite unfair, due to the reasoning behind purchasing the voucher initially was to enjoy the trolley ride, which we never knew existed, so were of course very excited to experience it! 2) Upon asking if vouchers were offered, the extremely unfriendly & unhelpful cashier made me to feel like I was asking for the world...when in fact, I was simply asking for something that should have been offered anyway. She basically told me we could pay full price for general admission, or save the groupon for a future visit (it was expiring within a couple weeks, so not an option), and no apologies/empathy whatsoever. If this was the policy, not to offer a voucher of some sort, understandable. However, the cashier is the main spokesperson for the entire museum at this point of contact, and should most DEFINITELY display empathetic practices as needed. Unfortunately this experience put a sour taste in my mouth as far as customer service goes, and the brief 45 minutes we had viewing the first building before having to rush out for a family emergency were not enjoyed due to the lack of customer service offered upon our arrival at Volo that left us quite frustrated. Although this experience was salty, this will not effect our decision to continue to bring our family & friends to Volo, or highly recommend the museum to others, as we have always had an enjoyable time every other visit! I would really appreciate a member of the management team contacting me to discuss this matter at: 847-366-0448 or shellynn9876@sbcglobal.net, as I was not able to discuss the issue due to having to leave so quickly. Thanks very much, ~Michelle Levin~

Don't advertise something and have people pay in advance for (Haunted Trolley Tour) that you don't have running.

I enjoyed the museum the only thing I was disappointed in was that the trolley was not running that day and they did not offer us anything

The Groupon included a trolley tour but the tour was not running, closed for the winter. They should have provided us with a ride ticket to be used at a later date. We would have come back and that would be another entry for them. They did not honor that part so it was not as good a deal.

In 1848, dairy cows grazed on the 30 acres that now host the Volo Auto Museum’s five showrooms. The mooing of heifers has given way to the imaginary roar of 200 collector cars and 100 gleaming autos that once graced movie and television sets—including a Batmobile from the 1966 TV series, a Herbie from the latest movie, and one of the first General Lees. After ogling the television and movie collection, guests can wander among vintage and antique vehicles and reminisce about the days when we still had to go places in person.

Nearby, the military exhibit’s realistic scenery surrounds vehicles ranging from a WWII BMW motorcycle with sidecar to a 1967 Bell helicopter shot down in Vietnam. After examining older artillery and artifacts, visitors can gaze at cases holding items retrieved from Saddam Hussein’s palace and from captured Iraqi soldiers. Those below driving age can explore kids’ attractions, including SpongeBob’s boatmobile.

Guests traverse the vast showrooms on foot or via a 1915, Victorian-style trolley, free on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Trolley tours begin by exploring autos that used to be stabled by the rich and famous alongside their unicorns. They then venture into the old dairy farm’s 19th-century barn, where activity by Civil War ghosts has drawn investigators from the Discover Channel’s Ghost Lab. Before leaving, visitors can refuel with an Angus-beef patty at the Betty Boop Burger Bar and Beer Garden or drop into four antique malls.
