The food is great. It's not much on atmosphere, and definitely not a date place. The oysters are fresh as can be, and they have the best gumbo in town. Prices are reasonable (average $15 plate).

Order the gumbo,it is fabulous. When we lived in Austin,we went there often& no matter what we ordered ,we had to start w their gumbo. The cup is really a bowl, just so you know.

go for the rice instead of french fries...rice is filled with seafood and other good things. hush puppies have bits of jalapenos in them; overall...very good

Loved the fried flounder and hushpuppies. They make awsome tartar sauce.

Don't go expecting fancy...Its a place like you would find on the gulf coast. I go for the oysters and have never had a bad one there. The craw-fish are piled high and great as well.

Good food, fun atmosphere. A great place to go for a pitcher of beer and oysters...or boiled shrimp...or shrimp diablos...okay, pretty much everything on the menu!

From Our Editors

Broiled or fried. Those are your only options at Pacific Star Restaurant & Oyster Bar. But people who make all their life decisions by flipping a coin don't seem to mind—and neither do the other customers. This includes Rob Balon, a food critic for Fox 7, who said, "Pacific Star is the kind of restaurant where you can get your favorite seafood with a little kick."

He's referring to appetizers, such as shrimp-and-oyster cocktail and fried crab fingers, and entrees, which are divided into fried and broiled categories. On the fried side, there are jumbo shrimp, catfish, and gulf oysters, and the broiler churns out stuffed flounder and jumbo crawfish tails. Plus, the menu even showcases a handful of Cajun favorites such as crawfish étouffée and crawfish pirogue.
