Six peaks. A 3,000-foot drop. Miles of trails. There's a reason that Killington Resort was named one of the "Top Ski Resorts in the East" by Outside magazine—it's rife with pristine ski runs for both beginners and experts, as well as plenty of freestyle terrain for snowboarders. If you're not the skiing type, the resort also offers snowshoe tours, snowmobile tours, the Skyeride mid-air glider, and a tubing park that's great for kids.

In the summer, the mountain opens up, and vacationers visit for its colorful mountain scenery, accessible via several different activities. First and foremoest are the scenic gondola rides, which ride to the summit for spectacular views of the Green Mountains. The gondola also provides access to 15 miles of designated trails, which connect to the world-famous Appalachian Trail. You can also hit the links at the par-72 golf course, or cruise through the extensive mountain-bike park.
