I've been to Soulard Oktoberfest many times over the years. This year, by far, was the worst location/venue as thousands of people were crammed into the space of a parking lot. There was no room to move! I promptly got my beer and pretzel and left, after standing in line for over 30 minutes to get in...

I really enjoyed Soulard Oktoberfest the past couple of years. But this year, it was much smaller and not as spread out, which was a turn off. If they switched it back to the way it was laid out the previous years, I would go again, but if they continue to do it like this year, I won't be going back. It was to crammed and too many people shoved into a small area...

Event was unorganized. Service at beer tents was laughable. Groupon was unclear on beer inclusion. Had to use two tickets to get one beer, which diminished the value greatly.

The location was a joke. A parking lot? Really? The park next to the Anheuser Busch plant was a fantastic location. Also this year there was a large tent but no activities or shows going on in the tent. There wasn't even a stage there. What happened to having Octoberfest-related activities going on in there? This is the fourth Soulard Octoberfest I've attended and will likely be the last if the venue is in a parking lot again and there isn't any fun Octoberfest related shows/activities around. There was a marijuana tent there selling bongs and other stuff. How's that related to this event? I live in Cape Girardeau (two hours away from this event) and had made it a yearly thing to do with my STL friends. This years event was a waste of my time. I have to throw a couple of positives out, since I don't want to be totally negative here. The Groupon deal was nice to get a discount on entrance and for a free beer and pretzel (although all of the Schlafly tents rejected the "free beer" ticket that had their name on it and the Urban Chestnut tent only filled my glass half way). But $13 for the event and these two free items was worth about that much. Also, there was a little area with park benches and grass next to a business there that were nice to sit on and talk. It was a few hundred square feet of grass that was pleasant.

I was disappointed and frustrated to find Schafly discontinued their support of the Groupon the Saturday I attended. It is my understanding they did the day before and the website was still promoting their support te day of to honor the one free beer

For a three stage concert atmosphere, it'll well worth the price, also with free parking whats not to enjoy. I only wish they had a three day pass cheaper. Having to choose the particular day, I was kinda worried about the rain we had all day, but it turned out to be clear that night so had a blast.

From Our Editors

Live music fills the air as revelers quaff cold, frothy beer and snack on traditional German food at Soulard Oktoberfest. The action takes place beneath a German-style tent across from the Soulard Market on 7th Street. There, frauleins fill bottomless mugs to flowing from a plethora of taps that minimize the wait in lines. In between mingling with friends, guests can appease their appetites with German pretzels as they listen to live musical acts, including the Dorfrockers and the Steve Ewing Band.
