We had a great time and they were very patient with our large group.
Only suggestion or tip would be to dress for it getting warm in the room at times. When they turn the blow dryers on to dry the bottom layer of the canvas it can get pretty warm.
Excellent atmosphere, relaxed and super nice owner/teacher!! Will be going back again! Lots of age groups were there! Had a great time!
The experience was great. I've done similar painting classes but this was by far the best! Not rushed at all. A wonderful experience.
I have gone to several various paint night locations. I wasn't sure what to expect after reading a review about the lack of organization. I believe the bad review must have been a fluke. Patty, the owner, conducts the class. Everything was setup and started on time, each step was clearly explained, she gave adequate time between steps to complete the process. She came around to each of our paintings and gave really good feedback on how to improve the painting. It was an excellent experience. I would go again for sure!
I love that you can choose when to paint and therefore, choose what to paint. The instructor was very helpful and everyone's painting turned out great with it's own unique artist's touch.
Always have a great time. The instructor is very personable.. I will be back
It was a really fun night. But for a class as large as ours was the instructor needs at least one assistant to go around and help those struggling while continuing on with the lesson for those on track. Our class ended up going on for bout 45 longer than anticipated. But good overall. Will return.
I had a great time. Awesome instructor! I have a new love for painting!
Patty is amazing !!!! Would definitely recommend! She's so hands on and really let's you bring out your creativity.
From Our Editors
Far from being an artist possessed, Patty Sisco derives the same benefit from painting as she does from a long bubble bath. "All you are thinking about is your brushstrokes, not your bills," she told the Bloomingdale-Riverview Patch, speaking to the therapeutic value of her classes at Sketch and Sip. These sessions supply students of all backgrounds—including those who have never before lifted a brush—with canvas, tools, and a step-by-step demonstration on how to create their own vibrant masterpieces. As they work, Patty encourages her guests to imbibe drinks they've brought from home and plays serene music to prompt creative flow. She moves throughout the room to offer tips on technique and helps with corrections in case students’ hands slip or they change their minds about adding a goatee to their horse portrait.
Though the classes, which have been featured on NBC's Daytime, are responsible for much of the studio's reputation, Patty also plans other community craft events. Each week on Wacky Wine Glass Wednesday, visitors embellish cups with fetching colors and patterns. Artists can even customize an image for their friends or family to paint during private parties, teaching children to color in SpongeBob SquarePants and encouraging coworkers to bond by sketching each other's staplers.
