About Salem Witch Museum

In the Massachusetts Bay Colony, a diagnosis of "bewitchment" in the year 1692 led to the trials, tortures, and subsequent executions of the infamous Salem Witch Trials. The Salem Witch Museum leads guests through the trials' mysterious history, from the first accusations to the spectral evidence, the trials' closing, and beyond. Here, displays chronicle the peoples of early America within the colony and their politics, while newer exhibits explore the concept of modern "witch hunting" and how the archetype of the "witch" has evolved since the days of the Salem Witch Trials.
