The Birdman Academy, Draper

I bought this tandem experience as a gift for my mom (5 ft, 115lbs) for her 69th birthday. We wanted to have a group of her family and friends there to watch, but that was a challenge because we are at the mercy of wind and mother nature. Kevin canceled our first scheduled flight on her birthday, so we scheduled another. Not Kevin’s fault, but definitely not an activity to plan as a group with spectators. On the second attempt, the weather finally cooperated. We were advised by Kevin that she needed good shoes with tread, and she showed up with “good” orthotic shoes with very little tread. This, paired with her lack of mobility on the side of a mountain slope, and a quick wind gust resulted in her taking a tumble and the glider getting tangled. Fortunately she was not hurt, but this experience for her was not good at all. After watching this experience unfold, I recommend this activity for folks who are somewhat athletic, agile, decent balance, and definitely have excellent treaded shoes as there is gravel and sloped conditions. Safety is the main priority and these should be mandatory, especially the treaded shoes.

Kevin is wonderful!!! I felt so safe. He is very intentional and timely with his flying. He has had so many cool experiences and it's nice to be going with someone that has so much experience. Would definitely recommend!
