The food was yummy and the entertainment was good. We got the teriyaki chicken and really enjoyed it. The fried rice is the best!!! Some other guests at our table got fried items (shrimp, onion rings, etc) but said they were bland and too greasy. Pay careful attention to your check! Our waitress overcharged us and then automatically added an 18% tip, even though there were only 2 of us. Had to send the check back 3 times and get the manager involved before they finally got it right.

As much as I love this place after tonight's dinner it will be our last time. The food took too long too cook, no shrimp appetizer, he screwed up on a few orders and to top it off it was me and my husband only but since they only seat you with a full table we still were charged gratuity. Sorry Sumo last time I will come here and it was my favorite place.

Food was great! Service not so great!! They switched our ticket, inadvertently with the couple next to us. That ticket was almost double what ours was supposed to be. We brought it to the manager's attention. It took them almost a half hour to straighten it up! Afterward, they offered NO apologies for the mistake or the inconvenience!

The food and entertainment value was excellent as always but I don't think the A/C was working in the restaurant that night. Before they even started cooking the food our entire party was sweating...it was uncomfortably hot...and I'm usually the cold one in a sweater.

From Our Editors

Twelve chefs clad in black uniforms and red hats stand at attention over tableside hibachis. All eyes on them, they start to play with their food: the culinary wizards wave lobster tails at guests, set onions aflame, and flip shrimp high in the air to land in their tall hats. “It is not just about the food, it’s about the show,” says Sumo Japanese Steakhouse owner Brad Meltzer. “The show brings you in and the food brings you back.”

Prior to landing on the hibachi grill, beef is butchered in-house and dressed in its Sunday best. Filet mignon shares grilling space with salmon, chicken, tuna, and scallops dipped in house-made ginger sauce. Meltzer and a small army of trained sushi chefs designed their menu of more than two dozen nigiri and sashimi rolls to please even the prickliest taste buds. Meltzer himself favors the 210 roll, a cyclone of scallops, shrimp, and crab slathered in sweet-and-spicy sauce and topped with crabstick, eel sauce, spicy mayo, and a snowfall of tempura flakes.
